The story

Twenty Years In, Nine Weeks to New

After twenty years at Shady Point Dr., the owners went looking for their dream home and found the price of it: everything on the wish list came with a multi-million-dollar tag. So they asked the other question. What would it take to make the house they already loved into that home?

The answer was a nine-week, $300,000 whole-home remodel, and the kitchen led it. Dark cherry cabinets and the original island gave way to white oak cabinetry, a white oak range hood, a quartzite island, and refinished hardwood floors. The living room got a new fireplace feature, built-ins, and lighting. The primary bedroom kept its vaulted ceiling beams and got everything around them refreshed.

The primary bath is the room people remember. The garden tub and framed shower stall on the window wall became a glass walk-in shower with dual rain heads, a built-in bench, stone slab walls, and a mosaic tile floor. The angled granite vanity in the same corner became a white oak double vanity with a tall cabinet, black-framed mirrors, brass sconces, and quartz counters. Whole-home paint pulled it together.
